WELCOME SPACE BROTHERS dives into the extraordinary true story of the Unarius Academy of Science, an extraterrestrial-channeling spiritual school founded in El Cajon in the 1970s. Led by the dazzlingly outlandish Ruth E. Norman—revered as "Archangel Uriel"—Unarius evolved into a wildly inventive public-access television phenomenon. The group produced films that appeared to be elaborately campy space epics yet were, at their core, sincere therapeutic works.

Jodi Wille is a filmmaker, curator, and book publisher recognized for her in-depth work exploring American subcultures and visionary artists. As a filmmaker Wille is known for The Source Family, a documentary about the charismatic leader of an LA commune in the 1970s. In addition to her work in film, Wille is an award-winning book publisher and author. She has also curated national museum and gallery exhibitions internationally featuring the art and films of outsider artists and alternative spiritual communities. She recently curated a major exhibition at the Museum of Sex in New York City, titled “Utopia Now! Three Centuries of Sexuality in American Cults and Communes,” on view at Museum of Sex Miami through November 2026. She has been presenting the films and artwork of The Unarius Academy of Science at museums, galleries, international film festivals and cinematheques since 2014 and has been actively documenting them since 2014.

Caryn Capotosto is a 4-time Emmy award-winning producer known for Won’t You Be My Neighbor? the 2018 feature documentary about Mister Rogers that won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary, a Producers Guild Award and a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Documentary. She received a 2016 News and Documentary Emmy Award for her role as co-producer on Best of Enemies, a 2021 News and Documentary Emmy for her role as Executive Producer on the 2021 short doc, The Love Bugs and a 2021 Emmy for Feels Good Man. She contributed to the Academy Award and Grammy Award-winning documentary, 20 Feet from Stardom (Associate Producer 2013). Caryn produced the Grammy-nominated film, Little Richard: I Am Everything (Magnolia Pictures, CNN Films), and Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero that premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival. Recent projects include the Emmy-nominated Searching for Amani for PBS and Alex vs. ARod for HBO. In 2019 Caryn founded the LA-based production company Museum & Crane.
